Senior Data Engineer
Full-time opening paying $177,341 per year.
Specific job duties include the following:
- Designing and implementing ETL processes for data transformation and preparation
- Leveraging existing data infrastructure to fulfill all data-related requests, perform necessary data housekeeping, data cleansing, normalization, hashing, and implementation of required data model changes
- Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements
- Maintaining and building on our data warehouse and analytics environment
- Working with cybersecurity teams to implement security measures to protect data; ensure data compliance and security needs are met
- Identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Documenting all phases of work including gathering requirements, joining relationship diagrams, creating database diagrams, report layouts and other program technical specifications using current specified design standards for new or revised solutions
- Designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines in support of data and analytics projects, including integrating new sources of data into our central data warehouse, and moving data out to applications
- Building reports and data visualizations, using data from the data warehouse and other sources
- Producing scalable, replicable code and engineering solutions that help automate repetitive data management tasks
- Supporting software developers, data engineers, data analysts and other data science team members to build scalable analytics reporting systems, portals and machine learning systems and models
- Building dynamic analytics dashboards and reports using Tableau, SQL, Python, and other analytic tools or building web applications to consume such reports for the operations, finance, and other teams including the executives
- Training (but not supervising) other data team staff on these skills
- Other duties may be assigned
- Position is based out of HFI Headquarters in Quincy, MA, but the employee may live and work from any of the following states: CT, FL, GA, KY, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NC, NY, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX
Minimum Education Required:
- Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field, or the foreign equivalent
Minimum Other Special Skills or Requirements:
- 4 years of experience in a Data Engineer role
- 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment, managing confidential and sensitive data sets
- 3 years of experience with Tableau reporting tool
- 3 years of experience developing scalable analytics reports and dashboards and building custom reporting systems using web technologies
- 3 years of experience with relational and non-relational databases (such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB and Cassandra)
- 3 years of experience with AWS cloud services such as EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift, Lambda etc. and Google cloud services such as GCP, Big Query, Firestore, etc.
- 3 years of experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages (such as Python, Java, Scala, Shell scripting etc.)
- 3 years of experience with big data tools (such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.)
- 3 years of experience with statistical and machine learning libraries (such as Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Spark, Keras, etc.)
- 3 years of experience with developing automations tools (such as Python, Shell scripting, Cron jobs, PHP, etc.)
- 3 years of experience with version control and code management tools (such as Git, Github, Gitlab, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)
- 3 years of experience with software and system deployment (such as PEN testing, unit testing, CD/CI, SDLC, etc.)
- 3 years of experience with data manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets and developing scalable systems to serve such data
- Willingness and ability to travel to HFI headquarters in Quincy, MA approximately once per quarter for a duration of 1-3 days
